Christmas jumper day is upon us yet again. This time last year I thought Christmas jumper day was just a myth people had made up, a day dedicated to the guilty pleasure that is a Christmas jumper. But one year on and it seems everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. My Instagram, Twitter and Facebook feed has been full of teams of people, from the new look PR team to lectures on biochemistry, all proudly wearing their Christmas jumpers.
But Christmas jumper day isn't just a day where it seems the whole of the UK gets in the festive spirit. This is a day dedicated to wearing something to raise money for children all over the world. Everyone seems to be consumed with the idea of buying presents, setting up the tree and gathering the family round for mulled wine and mince pies but we seem to forget those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Some children don't have homes to go to, families to spend Christmas with or can't make it from their hospital bed to spend Christmas with their family.
That's why Christmas jumper day is so important. To remember those we don't think of, to raise money for something other than ourselves and help spread a bit of Christmas cheer and love to those who need it most.
Here's my Christmas jumper for Christmas Jumper Day 2014. Have a lovely day.
